About the Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 stick of salted butter (softened)

  • 1/3 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 egg

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

(I always wonder if I should use baking soda, but something about it puts me off)

  • A generous amount of good-quality dark chocolate chips — the darker, the better (just not Nestlé!)

  • Flaky sea salt, for topping

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  • Mix in the egg and vanilla.

  • Stir in the flour and baking powder until just combined.

  • Fold in the chocolate chips.

  • Use an ice cream scoop to portion the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • Just before baking, sprinkle each cookie with flaky salt.

  • Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

  • Let cool slightly — or eat warm.

(If you're eating them later, warm them for a few seconds first — trust me.)
