Ingredients
1 pack firm tofu (pressed and cubed)
½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp brown sugar (optional, for balance)
Optional substitution: Replace all spices with Trader Joe’s BBQ Coffee & Garlic Rub
1–2 tsp olive oil or butter for pan-frying
Preparation
Cut the tofu into 1 cm cubes and gently pat dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
In a bowl, toss the tofu with salt, paprika, cumin powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of brown sugar (or substitute with Trader Joe’s Coffee Spice).
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add a small amount of butter or olive oil—just enough to lightly coat the bottom.
Add the seasoned tofu to the pan in a single layer. Let it cook undisturbed for a few minutes to form a crust, then flip occasionally.
Pan-fry for 5–10 minutes, until golden and slightly crispy on the outside.
